I am shocked that anyone is actually shocked by Regina’s actions. Most Lowell politicians are dumb, arrogant, self serving, corrupt, scumbags. Rare is the politician or public servant that is intelligent, articulate, knowledgeable, or concerned about the greater good. Scott is one of these rare individuals.
Historically Lowell was created by captains of industry and fueled by hungry, determined women and men who worked long hours for a better life. Today, the captains of industry have been replaced by provincial, arrogant, sloths more concerned with clinging onto their pathetic piece of the pie rather than creating a bigger, tastier pie that we can all be part of. What do I mean by this? Let’s take Regina Faticanti as an example… her job on the school committee is to improve the quality and performance of Lowell schools. It seems simple enough. What does she do with her position? She’s drunk with power, and more concerned with her cronies than the quality of education. Who gives a crap if the meals are made in house or brought in? If they are equally fresh and nutritious, but cost less, so the funds can be used on teachers and programs, isn’t that the point? Isn’t it about the kids? Not for Regina. Even now, after making a complete ass of herself and the city (talk about a waste of marketing money when this is the headline) she digs in her heels and refuses to resign! Even more outrageous is that some dummies are actually still behind her! Unbelievable anywhere else, but not in Lowell.
How about that fat bastard Taupier representing his cronies Sarris and Bahrakis? Trying to convince the school administration to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars of rent to them rather than use city owned space as a replacement? They think of themselves as civic heroes for the privilege of our taxes lining their pockets. In reality they are nothing but welfare recipients too lazy, and greedy to actually make it without the tit of government feeding their fat faces. Emperor Kendall Wallace marches lockstep with his buddies promoting the ridiculous idea knowing full well that selling the property would cause the city to have to repay it’s loan that is currently being forgiven at the rate of $900,000 per year. What’s Wallace’s real motivation? Another hit to undermine Scott, and Lynch. I guess Wallace really wants Kevin Murphy in there.
Emperor Kendall Wallace and Jim Campanini beileve the local newspaper is their own personal pulpit to command from. If they just tried reporting on the news rather than trying to make it, perhaps they could stop losing money hand over fist. What have either of these guys ever done? We all know that Wallace could have been city manager. Yea right. What else do you think he believes in that soft squishy mush between his ears? It’s easy to criticise and judge after the fact, but if they have had so much influence on this city perhaps they should keep their comments to themselves because Lowell isn’t anything to brag about.
These are some of the Good Old Boys, but there are so many more. The Lowell Plan and the City Center Committee?! What a bunch of elitist do nothings scheming from their self important roost. The amazing thing about these groups is how much they fight among themselves. These people act like a pack of high school cheerleaders moving among the cliques. They’re still not as bad as Wallace though, acting like a social climbing little girl staging fits, breaking up, and getting back together with his “friends.” It’s so pathetic, and so very unproductive.
The other remarkable thing about the GOBs is how much they eat and drink! Not working and getting drunk seems to be a sport for these guys. I guess I’d be a drunk too if my life were so petty, unproductive, and empty.
Now I really dislike this type of scum, but there’s another type that I dislike even more. These are the Bernie Lynchs. They are not insiders of the last 30 years, but they are nothing more than carpetbaggers. They work within the system, manipulate it, in a purely self serving way, with a smile on their faces. At least I know the old GOBs are a bunch of no good bastards, the nouveau GOBs are lying backstabbers bending over for Jim Keefe, the Patrick administration, John Kerry’s handlers, or whomever else can propel them to their next political job.
Isn’t it sad that Jim Keefe, brother of GOB Frank Keefe, is developing the Hamilton Canal District? Nathanial Appleton was a captain of industry and a great leader that created those mills, and now a talentless crony insider hack is being paid millions on day one, for the promise of a douchey, hollow, run of the mill, vanilla development. Lowell is so lackluster, talentless, and bankrupt that we can’t seem to recognize exactly what is happening. We’re just getting screwed by someone new. These nouveau GOBs are the same as the old GOBs but they play on a bigger field, with a higher level of bullshit, favoritism, handouts, and corruptness. That’s why the old GOBs are at war with the nouveau GOBs, they’re like gangs fighting over the same turf.
So, what’s the solution? The solution is to wake the fuck up.
Accept nothing less then we deserve and run the nouveau and old GOBs out of town. Don’t buy the Lowell Sun and tell their advertisers that you will not support them if they continue to support the Sun.
If we continue to sit on our asses, bitch and moan, without organizing, producing viable candidates, and vote them into office, then we deserve to have a douche like Jim Keefe, a hack like Bill Taupier, and a carpetbagger like Bernie Lynch deciding the fate of our city.
